Jens Häggström
Jens Häggström was born and brought up in Uppsala, Sweden, where he also completed his basic veterinary training 1990. He earned his Doctorate degree in 1996 with a thesis concerning myxomatous mitral valve disease in dogs.
He became an Associate Professor in Uppsala the year 2000, and in 2003 he became full Professor in Internal Medicine. Jens Häggström is author and co-author of a large number of original papers in Internationally distributed peer-viewed Journals, Congress abstracts and Textbook chapters, including the 2000 and 2005 Editions of Ettinger and Feldman’s “Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine”.
His main interests in research concerns mitral valve disease in dogs, pathophysiology and therapy of heart failure, and genetic risk factors for heart disease in dogs and cats. Jens Häggström is a Diplomate of ECVIM since 1998. He enjoys racquet sports, golf and skiing in his spare time.
